In my opinion street photography is an approach to photography much more than it is a reference to a location. But proper street photography must, however, comply with following basic criteria:
1) It must have people as the bearing element.
2) It must show people in a context. Portrait will not do.
3) It must be shot in a public area as opposed to a private area.
4) It must be shot in an urban setting.
4) It must be un-staged and unposed.
5) It must be straight photography, meaning only minor post productions should be accepted.
